Richly layered oil painting inspired by the unloved but beautiful bramble. The muted tones contrast with the sharp, organic, vibrant greens and blues that stand out against the darker background. Glowing amidst the dark, fragmented space, this evokes a sense of resilience and survival.

When Lucifer was cast down from heaven, it is said that he landed in a thicket of brambles. Enraged, Lucifer cursed and spat on the brambles. While this tale seems fantastical, its rooted in practicality as a warning not to eat the berries come late september as they start to rot. the 29th of september was the feast of st michael, whom it was that cast down lucifer in the first place.

    Protected with a satin varnish which gives a light sheen.

    Signed certificate of authenticity attached on the back of the painting.
